Vision for Broadway Technical Assistance
The Eley Group LLC coordinated a nine-member technical assistance team during a three-day visioning exercise. The final report was submitted to a local organizing committee, and it identified options for restoring a one-mile span of the Broad—Historic Midtown Corridor so that it serves as a gateway that connects Gary’s Downtown to Historic Midtown. The team of allied professionals demonstrated constructive dialogues about race and planning can occur during a visioning workshop.

Smart Growth Down Under
The Eley Group LLC conducted public policy research that explored sustainable urban design and placemaking initiatives led by local and central government in New Zealand. The report is the first scholarly research on smart growth models in the South Pacific region.

Princeville Design Workshop
The Eley Group LLC was a member of the design team at the request of NC State University. Our team was responsible for digital documentation of all renderings, sketches, and flip chart notes that were produced during the community workshop. Princeville received disaster recovery assistance in the aftermath of Hurricane Matthew.

The Equitable Development Workshop
The Eley Group LLC organized a national workshop on equitable development for U.S. EPA’s Office of Environmental Justice. The workshop featured the nation’s best community builders who are committed to encouraging community parity when improving the build environment. The Eley Group LLC evaluated the event; submitted a report to the client; and was asked to organize the 2015 workshop in Baltimore, MD.

Planning for Equitable Development, PAS Memo
The Eley Group LLC authored a planning advisory service (PAS) memo on the topic of equitable development. The American Planning Association (APA) encourages practicing planners and experts in the field to write about topics of great importance for feature in a bimonthly online publication. The final memo was circulated to 45,000 members, and it received a citation from the APA.

Social Equity Task Force of the American Planning Association
The Eley Group LLC led a seventeen member task force that was charged to investigate ways planning practitioners are struggling with social equity issues and to recommend how the American Planning Association (APA) can step-up efforts to improve the capacity of members. The final report was adopted as a part of the APA Board of Directors strategic plan.

Living Heritage Symposium
The Eley Group LLC offered remarks for the City of San Antonio’s collaborative forum which brought together international and local heritage professionals, policy-makers, grassroots preservationists and academics for an exchange of ideas leading to the development of best practices for safeguarding local cultural heritage.

National Planning Excellence Award Video
The Eley Group LLC worked closely with the American Planning Association (APA) to gather source material for the award video for State Representative Harold Mitchell, Jr. We collected project photos; recorded video footage; and edited the narrator’s script for the video. Our team served as an intermediary for State Representative Mitchell, U.S. EPA Region 4, and APA to facilitate timely completion of the media deliverable.

Field Hearings on Equity and Sustainability
The Eley Group LLC facilitated a field hearing on equity and sustainability at the National Organization of Minority Architects (NOMA) annual conference. The Initiative for Equality (IfE) launched the field hearings to facilitate collecting input for the Post 2015 and Sustainable Development Goals prepared by the United Nations. NOMA was the first professional association to participate in IfE’s field hearings.
